SACRIFICE
We all think of sacrifice as giving up, going away. We feel very bad if we have to sacrifice something. Some feel sad, everyone resents it. The word sacrifice must be understood first. It is a natural word indicating something that takes place very naturally and not with effort and analysis. A girl gives birth to a baby and soon begins to reach out to it automatically. Do not use the word automatically – use naturally. A mother sacrifices for her baby. This sacrifice is not giving up but is growth. Through her sacrifices, she discovers motherhood and keeps growing as a mother. The child grows due to her sacrifice. So sacrifice is a natural, effortless activity, which takes place whenever one is ready to learn and grow. Sacrifice is an expansive word, which can expand to reach the cosmic. Being an expansive word, it will promote growth wherever it is discovered. A person sacrifices only when he gets something better. Selfishness and sacrifice do not go together. A mother’s relationship with her baby has sacrifice inside. She does not voluntarily cultivate it. She already has it inside her. Yes, that is why sacrifice is a natural quality one discovers inside oneself. A teacher’s sacrifice for a student is also natural as a rose flower. He may be a renunciate but his sacrifice has been there inside him, much before he was called a renunciate. Growth in life has sacrifices built inside it. If you want to grow, be ready to discover sacrifice inside you and then find growth rapid and productive. There is no growth without sacrifice.
